In the State of Maryland

On September 4, 2024, 26 out of 26 (100%) identified domestic violence programs in Maryland participated in a national count of domestic violence services conducted by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV). The following figures were shared by participating programs about the services they provided during the 24-hour survey period

  • 1,229 Victims Served:

    615 adult and child victims of domestic violence found refuge in emergency shelters, transitional housing, hotels, motels, or other housing provided by local programs. 614 adult and child victims received nonresidential supportive services related to transportation, housing advocacy, legal support, therapy, and more.

  •  212 Hotline Contacts Received:

    • Domestic violence hotlines are lifelines for victims in danger, providing support, information, safety planning, and resources via phone, chat, text, email, and more. Programs’ hotlines received 212 contacts, averaging more than 9 contacts per hour.
       
    •  60 People Educated: Programs provided 2 educational sessions and trainings to 60 members of the public, addressing topics like domestic violence prevention and early intervention.
  • 255 Unmet Requests for Services:

    Victims made 255 requests for services that programs could not provide because they lacked sufficient resources. Approximately 22% of these unmet requests were for emergency shelter, hotels, motels, transitional housing, and other housing.
